April 18th 2008 00:14
Here is the Australian Rugby League's Team of the Century announced last night as part of the games Cetenary celebrations.
Fullback - Clive Churchill (Souths 1947-58)
Winger - Ken Irvine (Norths, Manly 1958-73)
Centre - Reg Gasnier (St Geoge 1959-67)
Centre - Mal Meninga (Canberra 1986-94)
Winger - Brian Bevan (Easts, UK 1945-64)
Five-eighth - Wally Lewis (Brisbane, Gold Coast 1988-93)
Half-back - Andrew Johns (Newcastle 1993-2007)
Front Row - Duncan Hall (Brisbane comp 1948-55)
Hooker - Noel Kelly (Wests 1959-68)
Front Row - Arthur Beetson (Balmain, Easts, Parramatta 1966-80)
Second Row - Ron Coote (Souths 1964-71)
Second Row - Norm Provan (St George 1951-65)
Lock - John Raper (Newtown, St George 1957-69)
Reserves -
Dally Messenger (Easts 1908-13)
Bob Fulton (Manly, Easts 1966-79)
Graeme Langlands (St George 1963-76)
Frank Burge (Glebe, St George 1911-27)
Coach - Jack Gibson (East, St George, Newtown, Souths, Parramatta 1967-83)
The Team includes all seven rugby league Immortals, with Newcastle skipper Andrew Johns the most recent player selected in the side. Johns's selction is sure to be shrouded in controversey however, as the games leading point-scorer addmitted to substance abuse throughout the latter stages of his career.
"I feel like tonight the game has forgiven me,'' Johns said.
"I was nervous, it's a very big occasion in the game and also I have some other issues from last year.''
Canberra centre Mal Meninga's starting selection was a shock, with the Queensland Origin pioneer beating Immortal Graeme Langlands to company Reg Gasnier in the centres.
Five-time premiership winning coach Jack Gibson beat current Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett to direct the dream team, with Manly centre / five-eighth Bob Fulton relegated to the interchange bench.

Meninga's intimidation factor alone would beat out the mercurial Langlands and Fulton.
The man also toured with the Kangaroos four times (twice as captain) - don't forget that - and helped establish the Raiders outfits of the late 80s and early 90s as some of the greatest teams to ever grace the game.
Absolute bloody legend.

Without seeing the photo in question, I will take a punt and guess that it is the wife of the mate Dally Messenger.
Hope that helps,
