Mt Isa Irish Club Becomes Cowboys Community Partner
January 18th 2009 09:47
The Mount Isa Irish Club has joined the campaign to support their local Bush Children’s branch by partnering with the NQ Toyota Cowboys.
The Irish Club has been a leading commercial operator in Mount Isa since 1955 and its commitment as a Cowboys Community Partner will further the continued operation and expansion of the local Bush Children’s office.
Irish Club General Manager Bernard Gillic is delighted to pledge the support of the club and its membership to assisting children in Mount Isa and the surrounding area.
“The Irish Club is a passionate advocate for all things about Mount Isa – the people, the place, its history and its future,” Gillic says.
“We recognise that Bush Children’s provides vital services for the local community and we’re fully behind the campaign to keep the local branch operating.
“We’re a close-knit community and the Irish Club is keen to do what we can to give families local access to health and support services rather than them having to travel huge distances to larger centres for the same kind of care.”
The Mount Isa Irish Club joins community partners TP human capital, BHP Cannington Mine and Queensland Airports Limited in the Cowboys initiative.
Cowboys Commercial General Manager Terry Johnston is pleased to have the Mount Isa icon on board.
“The commitment of the Irish Club to our Bush Children’s program shows their true community spirit and dedication to making Mount Isa a great place to be,” Johnston says.
“It also throws down the challenge to other local businesses to join the campaign to ensure that Bush Children’s can not only continue its operations, but also expand with ongoing initiatives.”
According to Bush Children’s Chief Executive Officer Cheryl Miller, the community program is going from strength to strength with the decision by the Irish Club to participate.
“The calibre of community partners in place not only provides Bush Children’s with access to professional services and support but also draws the spotlight to all of our partners,” Miller says.
“We encourage businesses with a strong community charter and an interest in regional Queensland to join the program as a community partner.”
