MEDIA RELEASE - Parramatta Eels
The Parramatta Eels have today lifted the enforced suspension on troubled halfback Tim Smith, allowing the talented rookie to resume pre-season training immediately.
Eels General Manager Greg Mitchell, Head Coach Michael Hagan and Football Manager Andrew Hill met today with Smith’s manager David Riolo to discuss the much maligned half's playing future with the club.
Smith has been in rehabilitation on the Gold Coast since the Eels suspended him on December 14, with family and friends helping the 22-year-old to overcome both alcohol and depression problems.
The Eels have placed a number of sanctions upon Smith's return however, with the 2005 Dally M rookie set to continue in alcohol rehabilitation, complete various charity and community work as well as having a monetary fine imposed.
“Tim has been working hard to overcome a number of personal issues and is very grateful of the support from the Parramatta Eels and general support from the Community," said Riolo.
"Tim is looking forward to returning to training and the season ahead”.
