NRL News Footy Tips - Round 10
May 15th 2008 10:05
This weeks Round 10 action will prove to be one of the toughest rounds to tip, with seven of the eight matches affected by State of Origin representation. The Melbourne Storm will field a largely unrecognisable side when they play the St George-Illawarra Dragons this Saturday, with the defending premiers providing nine players to next Wednesday’s interstate match.
The Broncos are another team affected by both injury and Origin, with the Eels v Roosters, Sharks v Broncos, Knights v Tigers and Raiders v Rabbitohs all being toss if the coin jobs.
Please check back over the weekend for all the results and updates from this week’s action, ane I will be providing match reports for both Friday night matches, the Sharks v Broncos and Sea-Eagles v Cowboys and Panthers v Warriors.
Remember, it’s not too late to enter the NRL News Footy Tipping competition, with the first prize being a 2008 NRL jersey of the team of their choice. Igornodrog continues to lead this years competition, with the guru tipster leading on 45. Eastsideboy has moved into second position on 43 points, one point clear of Anth3000, GIVE THE FAT A WHACK (perfect round last week – congratulations) and t-roy69 who are all tied for third on 42.

Which leads me into my tips for the Round 10 action!
Cheers,

Sydney will still field a line-up containing Anasta, Pearce and O’Meley, but will face an Eels side missing only strike centre Jarryd Hayne.
Eels by 8
Canterbury has eight players unavailable through injury for this crucial clash, but do have the inspirational Sonny Bill Williams returning.
Titans by 12
Despite Cronulla being without Origin representatives Gallen and Bird, the home side should have way too much firepower for a depleted Brisbane side.
Sharks by 10
Despite being without Gasnier and Cooper, the Dragons need to win this match to stay in touch with the competition leaders, and I am tipping that desperation to get them home.
Dragons by 8
Sea-Eagles by 16
Penrith are to hot and cold at the moment to tip comfortably, so I am going to tip the Warriors in a high-scoring thriller.
Warriors by 4
The news is all good in the Tigers camp however, with Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah finally returning from injury. Wests line-up looks a lot more dangerous, and should get the points despite the Knights dominant record on their home turf.
Tigers by 6
Souths will be full of confidence after finally winning a game before last weekends bye, and will start slight favourites given the home sides lack of troops.

Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Roosters
The Eels return to their home turf on the back of two straight victories, and will start favourites due to the Roosters being without our Origin stars.Sydney will still field a line-up containing Anasta, Pearce and O’Meley, but will face an Eels side missing only strike centre Jarryd Hayne.
Eels by 8
Gold Coast Titans vs Canterbury Bulldogs
Given both sides performances thus far this season, the Titans will be red hot favourites as they look to defend their undefeated record on the Skilled Park surface. The loss of Gold Coast forward Anthony Laffranchi to Origin duty has been tempered by the return from injury of prop Luke Bailey.Canterbury has eight players unavailable through injury for this crucial clash, but do have the inspirational Sonny Bill Williams returning.
Titans by 12
Cronulla Sharks vs Brisbane Broncos
Brisbane will field their most inexperienced line-up this week at Toyota Park, with seven players missing through Origin or injury. The broncos will still field a forward pack containing Carroll, Sims, Clinton, Parker and Ennis but it is in the backs that the Sharks will have the advantage.Despite Cronulla being without Origin representatives Gallen and Bird, the home side should have way too much firepower for a depleted Brisbane side.
Sharks by 10
St George-Illawarra Dragons vs Melbourne Storm
The Dragons will have no better chance at knocking off the defending premiers then this weekend at ANZ Stadium. Melbourne will be without eight Origin players this Saturday night, and have named a host of debutants for the Dragons clash.Despite being without Gasnier and Cooper, the Dragons need to win this match to stay in touch with the competition leaders, and I am tipping that desperation to get them home.
Dragons by 8
Manly Sea-Eagles vs North QLD Cowboys
Everything is pointing to an old fashioned Manly carve up, with the Sea-Eagles only to be without fullback Brett Stewart for this match. Manly stars Brent Kite, Matt Orford and Jamie Lyon will be out to prove the NSW selectors wrong, meaning the alarm bells should be ringing for the visiting Cowboys, who will be without Johnathan Thurston, Matt Bowen, Carl Webb, Jacob Lillyman and Travis Burns for this encounter.Sea-Eagles by 16
Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors
With both sides form considerably patchy heading into this Round 10 encounter, one may find it easier to simply toss a coin to predict a winner. Both sides have a handful of players unavailable, but despite the Warriors woeful away record, should start slight favourites for this match. Penrith are to hot and cold at the moment to tip comfortably, so I am going to tip the Warriors in a high-scoring thriller.
Warriors by 4
Newcastle Knights vs Wests Tigers
The Knights have received a double blow ahead of this Sunday’s crucial encounter, with hooker Danny Buderus called into Origin camp, and replacement hooker Matt Hilder this week suspended for two matches. The news is all good in the Tigers camp however, with Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah finally returning from injury. Wests line-up looks a lot more dangerous, and should get the points despite the Knights dominant record on their home turf.
Tigers by 6
Canberra Raiders vs South Sydney Rabbitohs
The Raiders are currently experiencing a horrific run of injuries, with utility Lincoln Withers this week joining William Zillman and Phil Graham with season ending knee injures. The loss of Withers means that Canberra will be without seven regular first graders this Monday night.Souths will be full of confidence after finally winning a game before last weekends bye, and will start slight favourites given the home sides lack of troops.
