STRUGGLE STREET
Yes, that’s about the gist if how I am performing in Footy Tipping season 2008! I am struggling on a score of 27 for the season – unfortunately now 14 points off the pace in our NRL News Footy Competition!
Be sure to visit back over the weekend, as I will be covering all 3 Saturday games, as well as the Warriors v Raiders game son Sunday.
I will be also providing complete results and NRL Table updates throughout the weekend.
Remember, it’s not too late to enter the NRL News Footy Tipping competition, with the first prize being a 2008 NRL jersey of the team of their choice. Igornodrog continues to lead this years competition, with the guru tipster leading on 41. However, the second placed eastsideboy and Yugogirl are only 4 points behind, with Troy69 and Anth3000 only one point further back.

Newcastle v Gold Coast
Both teams will have a handful of players backing up from Fridays City v Country fixture, which could mean danger signs for the table-topping Titans. The gold Coast will have workhorse backrowers Minichiello and Laffranchi backing up for their second game in less than 24 hours, and the visitors could find the going tough if they lose either of these two players. I am going with Newcastle, purely on home ground advantage.
Penrith v Parramatta
Everything is pointing to a Panthers victory here, but as we have seen thus far in season ’08, nothing can be guaranteed. Both teams enjoyed the week off last week courtesy of the Round 7 bye, but the Eels have 5 players hopefully backing up from Friday’s representative fixture. Penrith will have Rooney and Lewis backing up, and have been in decent form in recent weeks. With my heart ruling over my head, I am tipping the Eels to bounce back to form.

Wests v Brisbane
After a gutsy victory last week, the Tigers will be full of confidence heading into their clash with the second placed Broncos this Saturday night. The Tigers will be hoping that their representative contingent an get through the Friday night representative game, with the presence of Hodgson, Heighington and Gibbs crucial to their chances of victory. With Brisbane without such problems, I am sticking with the Broncos to notch up their sixth win of the season.

New Zealand v Canberra
Even with only 17 fit players to choose from, I still like the Warriors on their home soil, and they should be too strong for a Raiders team that could be without star half, Todd Carney. Both teams have been decimated with injuries this season, but look to the powerful Warriors to bounce back after two demoralising losses.

South Sydney v North QLD
After the week that the Rabbitohs have had, nothing short of a miracle will see the Bunnies toss the high flying Cowboys this Sunday. With four of their players dropped due to disciplinary reason, coach Taylor has had to resort to a Widders/Luke halves combination for this match. Thurston and Bowen are just starting to hit their straps for the Cowboys, and if they are on their game, then it could very well be a cricket score in the Cowboys favour.
