Round 3 NRL Preview - Sharks VS Rabbitohs

March 31st 2007 06:14
Cronulla Sharks VS South Sydney Rabbitohs @ Toyota Park, 31/03/2007

The undefeated South Sydney Rabbitohs face a stern challenge this Saturday night, having to travel to a blustery Toyota Park to face a pumped up Sharks outfit still reeling from their controversial two point loss to the Titans on Monday night.

Unfortunately for the home side, the short five day turn around has seen Adam Dykes (foot), Lance Thompson (knee) and Brett Pomeroy (ribs) all set to miss the encounter, with only Pomeroy a slim chance of taking the field. Fortunately for Sharks coach Ricky Stuart, they have some handy replacements for the trio, with former Bronco Brett Seymour, David Simmonds and Dustin Cooper on standby for the injured trio.

The Rabbitohs on the other hand have no such worries, with Souths coach Jason Taylor naming an unchanged side for the third consecutive week, something his Souths predecessors wish they had the luxury of doing.

There is no doubting the fact that the Rabbitohs line-up of 2007 is a vastly improved outfit, with their normally exciting attacking play now complimented by a new steely resolve in defence. The addition of Vagana, Peachey, Asotasi, Kidwell, Irvine, Widders and coach Taylor have no doubt boosted the confidence of the young Rabbitohs.

In what should be a close match, we think that the short turn around could prove costly for the home side, with a rampant South Sydney side likely to chalk up their third straight victory.
