Round 4 NRL Preview - Eels VS Raiders

April 7th 2007 01:34
Parramatta Eels VS Canberra Raiders @ Parramatta Stadium, 7.30pm, 7/04/07

In one of the toughest games of the Round to tip, the Parramatta Eels finally got on the winners list last Friday night, albeit on the back of a golden point Luke Burt penalty goal against the Wests Tigers.

The Eels will have hopefully worked on some attacking moves this week at training, after two of their three tries against the Tigers came from intercepts. The Eels new half combination of Brett Finch and Tim Smith are yet to form the lethal combination that they threaten to be, but if they can get the ball out wide with space, the likes of Tahu, Grothe, Hayne, Burt and Ben Smith have both the pace and skill to compete with any backline in the competition.

Canberra were simply awesome in the second half against the hapless Knights last Monday, with the halves combination of Todd Carney and Michael Dobson absolutely brilliant at times. Rookie fullback William Zillman showed why the Canberra powers that be let Clinton Schifofske go, with the former junior Kangaroo scintilating in crossing for his hat trick of tries.

The Eels have lost centre Tahu and inspirational skipper Cayless for this clash, with Joel Reddy and either Fuifui Moimoi or Richard Faa'oso to replace the Kiwi Test prop. Canberra on the other hand have no injury concerns.

In a toss of the coin job, I am going for a second successive Eels victory, purely on the back of their vocal home crowd. This could turn into a high scoring affair, so look for either Hayne, Grothe, Zillman or Graham as first try scorers.
